Conducting Yourself During a Credit Card Debt Negotiation Settlement Request

You owe a lot of money to your various credit cards and you would like nothing more than to be debt free. What a feeling it would be to be able to get rid of that mountain of debt hanging over your head. It can be done. You can get rid of all that debt, you just have to know how. You don’t need to pay your full balances, not if you know who to talk to and what to say. The way to go about this is to engage in a credit card debt negotiation settlement. This is where you contact the credit card company and you tell them you’ll pay off the balance you owe, at a slight discount. In some cases, you can get away with about half of your debt. Most of the time, however, it’s about eighty five percent or somewhere around there. Either way, you’re saving money and you’re getting rid of your debt at the same time.

Settlement Program

Be wary of credit card debt settlement programs. Any time you go through a third party to negotiate your settlement, you have to realize that the program’s fees are probably going to come out of your credit card debt negotiation settlement amount. Why pay more if you don’t have to? Instead, contact the credit card companies directly and tell them you want to negotiate your settlement amount. That’s the best way to go about getting a settlement agreement and the credit card companies will likely respond better to that way as well.

What To Say

When you contact the credit card companies to ask for a credit card debt negotiation settlement, ask to speak to a supervisor right away. If you talk to a representative, and you then ask for a credit card debt negotiation settlement, they are likely to transfer you to a supervisor anyway. Therefore, skip the middleman and save some time by going right to the supervisor. Once they’re on the phone, tell them you plan to make good on your debt and that you want to negotiate a settlement. They will probably ask you what you intend to pay. You don’t want to go too low because it may be rejected outright; and you don’t want to go too high for obvious reasons. So it’s best to go right down the middle. Around seventy to eighty percent or even less might do the trick. Just let the supervisor know that you want to make good and this is their best bet to recoup their money. That’s how you go about a credit card debt negotiation settlement and it’s one of the best ways to get out of debt quickly and for less money.
